Alabama Hills

Although a popular back drop for many western movies, Alabama Hills is secret to most. West of the town Lone Pines, the area is filled with desert rock for as far as the eye can see. In the background the Sierra Nevadas tower over the land. Only a handful of cars and campers made the journey out onto the dirt roads that virtually brought you as far as the eye could see. Plenty of off roading opportunities and an endless world of exploration, this park is still a major secret. Heading from Sequoia where thousands of people scatter the streets and you have to wait 30 minutes just to go to the bathroom, Alabama Hills was our own little oasis. There are no campsites,  bathrooms, showers or running water. You have yourself and what you’ve carefully brought on your journey. There are no rules, restrictions, or park rangers telling you where to go. It’s liberating knowing  you have only yourself to rely on. Zack found his inner cowboy… He went from surfer to cowboy… It’s even hard for me to keep up. The day came to an end as the sunset painted the sky like a pink and purple watercolor mural.
